Mill Memories Magazine
Mill Memories is the seasonal magazine published by The Mills Archive Trust, an archival institution specialised on the preservation of milling history and future of renewable energy. Located in Reading, the archives were looking for the redesign for their upcoming 38th issue, released in June 2026.
Alongside Yong Ring and their in-house designer, Iba Tony, the brief asked for a fresh look to their existing design, while maintaining continuity with their established format and readership experience.
The new design keeps the strong photographic character of the magazine - filled with its typical mills and old pictures - and explores a simple, almost academic typesetting of its contents. It then balances this formal skeleton with modern typeface pairings for a more contemporary look.
