Life on the road moves at a slower pace—so does this reporter’s work. Equipped with an old typewriter and a film camera, they spend their days immersed in the slow, deliberate processes of researching, typing, bookbinding, and developing black-and-white film. They also carry a small selection of secondhand books and well-loved fairytales, each one read multiple times.
Minarai dreams of one day being cast as a metal fount for typewriters, used by low-budget, monochromatic newspapers. Until then, they find comfort on the pages of both printed and digital language manuals and dictionaries.
Fun fact: Minarai uses their grandpa’s fountain pen to handwrite the serial number of each of their magazine issue.
